As of June 2026, I have started a new role as a postdoctoral research associate in the lab of Dr Michael Bottery at the University of Manchester. The project focuses on the role of mutagenesis and DNA mismatch repair in Aspergillus fumigatus and how this contributes to antifungal resistance. This project will combine functional genomics, use of publically available datasets, CRISPR-Cas9 cloning, and exerimental evolution to determine how novel stressors within the environment contribute towards increased antifungal resistance in human disease.
Whilst at Dartmouth, I spearheaded a longitudinal, observational study with Prof Bomberger and Dr Ryan Little (Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center) to study the ongoing effects of CFTR modulator therapies in adults with CF. This study focuses on adults with sinus disease and the effects of modulators on microbiota, inflammation, and olfaction. Through continued collaboration, we aim to uncover novel links between time-on-modulators and alterations to community composition of the sinus microbiome, inflammatory profile, and sense of smell through multivariate analyses.
